The kitties on this page are in urgent need of help. They are in shelters that do not have no-kill policies, or their owners can no longer care for them. We need to find foster homes or adoptive families for these sweet kitties immediately or they may be put down. If you are interested in adopting a Maine Coon mix, please consider one of these kitties. If you would like us to courtesy list an urgent kitty for you, please fill out and submit a courtesy post form.
MCA doesn't have enough foster space to rescue all of the kitties who need our help. If you can provide foster care for these kitties, even on a temporary basis, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
** Lola and Annie
Hi everybody! I’m Lola, and this is my best friend, Annie. We are two sweet, adorable kitties who, through no fault of our own, are in need of a new home. Our family just dumped us (in a duffel bag, no less, which you can see in the photo) back at the shelter they adopted us from because they are moving. We are very sweet and quite bonded, so we are hoping to find a home together where we can show all the love we have to give. I’m the tabby; I’m nine years old and a little shy just until I get to know you. I’m very affectionate and like to be petted, but please don’t pick me up as I’m a little sensitive about my weight. Annie is three years old and has gorgeous black and white markings. She is more outgoing, but we take care of each other. We are both spayed and up to date on our shots. If you would like more information, contact the Santa Clara County shelter as soon as possible. Thank you! Please note that this shelter does not euthanize animals so we are not in danger of being killed, BUT it’s tough being here and we’d sure like to get out asap.

Hello! My name is Argyle. You may know that the name refers to a pattern but did you know it’s often used to refer to an individual diamond in that pattern? Well, that’s kind of like me. I’m a beautiful diamond who’s kind of lost here in the shelter and just waiting and waiting for someone to fall in love with me. As you can see, I’m a gorgeous lynx-point Himalayan with fabulous blue eyes and will make a wonderful companion. I’m nine years old, which is middle aged for us kitties (think of me as a groovy 50-something) and, although I need a special kidney diet, my thyroid is normal and I am up to date on my vaccinations. Really, all I ask for are a few head scratches or chin rubs, a good brushing and a quiet corner or sunny nook to hang out in. I do fine with other cats and appreciate the company of those with me in the shelter. I’m not sure how I ended up here in the shelter (I was found as a lost kitty) but I’m really hoping to find a new home soon. In fact, it’s kind of urgent that I do so. If you would like more information, use the contact information above or below and they can tell you all about me. Thank you!!

CORONA, CA: Hello there! My name is Kitty. As in, "Here, kitty kitty" – yep, that's me! And I am here to tell you I am all kitty. I am a big beautiful Maine Coon mix with gorgeous long orange-and-cream fur. Not sure if you realize it but us orange girls are very rare (most of the big orange kitties are boys). I am 11 years old--middle-aged for us Kitty kitties--and like to think I am a very good companion. I enjoy greeting you at the door and following you around and chatting away but after a little cuddle time, I am also okay with my own space and sometimes like to take a little time for myself. I am not big on other kitties (I mean, come on, when you have the original Kitty kitty, why would you want more?) and currently living in Corona, California, so if you would like more information, contact Shana and she can tell you all about me.

ANTIOCH, CA: Bonjour, mes amis! My name is Coco, as in Chanel, the style icon and designer. I think I could be in the fashion industry; I mean, check me out, with my gorgeous dilute tortie calico markings. Not only do I look fabulous, I’m also very loving and would make an excellent companion kitty. I’m affectionate, even-tempered, gentle, and everything you want in a kitty. You’ll enjoy having me around at all times. I am only one and a half to two years of age, have been spayed, tested negative, and am up to date on all my shots. If you’d like to see me in action, check out my video: http://youtu.be/k1hVjAgSQQA. Then, if you’d like more information or to come meet me, call Cherie and she can tell you all about me.

Hey! My name is Rags. You know how rags soak up things? Well, I like to soak up love. I’m a sweet timid boy who loves people and is very attentive to the human voice and making eye contact. And when I say eye contact I mean, I can hold that eye contact for a long time – hanging on every word you say. And if you say “why don’t you go lie down?” I will do just what you say. I am hoping to find a home where I can show what a good listener and snuggler I can be and would even be a great cat for a first-time adopter. I need to find a home soon, too, as the woman who helped rescue me has two kitties who are being mean to me. I do like other kitties and would be happy to be in a house with another kitty or two. I’m just two years of age and a big boy with gorgeous tabby markings highlighted with white on my chest and one leg. I have been neutered and am quite healthy, even though I have tested positive for FIV. Us FIV+ kitties can live just as long and happy and healthy a life as kitties who are not diagnosed positive, and we can live with kitties who are FIV- as long as we get along. If you would like more information or to come meet me, contact Donna.

Lake County Animal Care and Control always has lots and lots of kittens and mama cats looking for homes throughout the spring and summer! So if you're looking for an adorable kitten or young mama cat with kittens, please check the Lake County web site (but realize that it could be a bit out of date as they are so busy...). The kittens in the photo have been adopted but are a sample of the kittens that they have... so come make the drive north and see their great kitties! They are a small rural shelter with few resources and they need your help to save as many animals as possible. They are about 2 hours from Oakland and their kitties are worth the drive!
For more information, please contact Lake County Animal Care and Control and ask for Marilee, Sara, or Colette.
