Maine Coon Adoptions

California-based No-Kill Cat Rescue

Urgent Rescues

The kitties on this page are in urgent need of help. They are in shelters that do not have no-kill policies, or their owners can no longer care for them. We need to find foster homes or adoptive families for these sweet kitties immediately or they may be put down. If you are interested in adopting a Maine Coon mix, please consider one of these kitties. If you would like us to courtesy list an urgent kitty for you, please fill out and submit a courtesy post form.

MCA doesn't have enough foster space to rescue all of the kitties who need our help. If you can provide foster care for these kitties, even on a temporary basis, please e-mail mainecoonadoptions.apps@gmail.com.

Jack & Mia

**URGENT Jack & Mia [CP]

Hello! We are Jack and Mia, two sweet kitties in need of a new forever home because someone in our home has developed severe allergies. Our mom, who has raised us from seven weeks of age until our current nine years (which is just entering middle age for us kitties), loves us very much and wants to find a wonderful home for us – hopefully together or at the very least in homes without other kitties. We both like attention from our people a lot so would do well in a home where we are not left alone for really long amounts of time (i.e., more than 12 hours a day). Here’s a little information on each of us:

Kitten

HI there!  My name is Kitten and I have to tell you, I’m feeling a bit stressed right now. You see, after ten years of being a super sweet and loving pet, my family is going to put me in a shelter really soon (by August 10!) They had a baby and I’m feeling pretty stressed and not using my box all the time (you understand, don’t you?)  To be honest, they haven’t done a lot to help me other than put me in the garage where it’s pretty lonely. Now they are ready to “get rid of me” because I’m “causing trouble.”  Heck, I’m just trying to adjust to having a baby in my life!  I’ve never had any litter box issues before, at all!  I’m super sweet and get along well with other cats and older children.  I’m in L.A. and thank goodness, there is a friend, Jonathan, who is willing to drive or fly me most anywhere…now that’s the kind of friend to have! He cannot adopt me because he’s at his limit of kitties…but he’s been trying so hard to find me a home.  So how about it? We ten year old kitties are the same age as a mid-fifty year old human. Now don’t you know lots of 50 year old who have a lot of life left?  So do !  You can learn more about me from my friend Jonathan.  Hurry please!

Kitty

**URGENT Kitty [CP]

CORONA, CA: Hello there! My name is Kitty. As in, "Here, kitty kitty" – yep, that's me! And I am here to tell you I am all kitty. I am a big beautiful Maine Coon mix with gorgeous long orange-and-cream fur. Not sure if you realize it but us orange girls are very rare (most of the big orange kitties are boys). I am 11 years old--middle-aged for us Kitty kitties--and like to think I am a very good companion. I enjoy greeting you at the door and following you around and chatting away but after a little cuddle time, I am also okay with my own space and sometimes like to take a little time for myself. I am not big on other kitties (I mean, come on, when you have the original Kitty kitty, why would you want more?) and currently living in Corona, California, so if you would like more information, contact Shana and she can tell you all about me.

Maumi

Please note that this is a courtesy post; this cat is not with Maine Coon Adoptions. For more information, please contact Ling-Fan at rhouseusa@yahoo.com

Hi I’m Maumi and just look at my handsome good looks and big fluffy tail. My most favorite thing in the whole entire world is to lay on my family’s laps or in his arms….I can stay there for the longest time!  I am also playful and enjoy wrestling with my family too (in a gentle way, of course!)   BUT – I need a new home REALLY SOON by Monday, August 28 – my family is older and could no longer live on his own.  So, I need a new home pronto.  I’m three years old, I’ve been neutered and have had my vaccines.  I’m in Union City on the East Bay but don’t let distance stop us from meeting!  Contact Ling-Fan at rhouseusa@yahoo.com

Rags

*URGENT Rags [CP]

Hey! My name is Rags. You know how rags soak up things? Well, I like to soak up love. I’m a sweet timid boy who loves people and is very attentive to the human voice and making eye contact. And when I say eye contact I mean, I can hold that eye contact for a long time – hanging on every word you say. And if you say “why don’t you go lie down?” I will do just what you say. I am hoping to find a home where I can show what a good listener and snuggler I can be and would even be a great cat for a first-time adopter. I need to find a home soon, too, as the woman who helped rescue me has two kitties who are being mean to me. I do like other kitties and would be happy to be in a house with another kitty or two. I’m just two years of age and a big boy with gorgeous tabby markings highlighted with white on my chest and one leg. I have been neutered and am quite healthy, even though I have tested positive for FIV. Us FIV+ kitties can live just as long and happy and healthy a life as kitties who are not diagnosed positive, and we can live with kitties who are FIV- as long as we get along. If you would like more information or to come meet me, contact Donna.

Kittens!!!!

Lake County kittensLake County Animal Care and Control always has lots and lots of kittens and mama cats looking for homes throughout the spring and summer! So if you're looking for an adorable kitten or young mama cat with kittens, please check the Lake County web site (but realize that it could be a bit out of date as they are so busy...). The kittens in the photo have been adopted but are a sample of the kittens that they have... so come make the drive north and see their great kitties! They are a small rural shelter with few resources and they need your help to save as many animals as possible. They are about 2 hours from Oakland and their kitties are worth the drive!
