Our Overlooked Kitties

Updated June 3rd, 2013

Here are some of our kitties that, for some reason, have been overlooked by our past adopters. Perhaps they are a bit "mature" (i.e. older), or a bit shy, or... who knows why? We know that all animals give back far more love than we can ever give them, and so we hope you will consider one of these kitties.

Clarissa

Clarissa Clarissa Hello! My name is Clarissa. You may remember the name from Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, a novel about a high-society woman. Well, let me tell you that, although I would do just fine in high society (with my formal black and white markings), I would also find all those social events insufferably boring. You see, at the age of a year and a half, all I want to do is play, play, play. I can play with just about anything, but my favorite toys are bouncy balls, which I can catch mid-air or bat with my paw to bounce on the ground. Maybe I can play basketball in the next Olympics! What do you think? I can be a little wary and skittish when I first meet people but am very affectionate once I learn to know and trust you. Then I will make sure to come up and let you know that I'm ready for a little affection and play time. I'm fine with other kitties, but I'd be just as happy as an only kitty. I'm okay with dogs but probably wouldn't be the dog's buddy.

Takoda

Takoda Takoda Hi there! My name is Takoda, which is of Sioux origin and means "friend of everyone." That is just the perfect name for me--I'm everybody's friend! I am about five years of age and have found the world to be a big, wonderful place, and people are a big, wonderful part of it. I like to spend my days exploring and playing. I am okay with other kitties and also fine on my own. Like a lot of kitties, after playtime I like to conk out for a bit of a nap or hang out with my people. I can be a little shy at first, but I do warm up. I love to have my ears rubbed and purr audibly when being held, and then I will look up at you with my soulful eyes. I am neutered, tested negative, and up to date on all my shots.

Bernadette

Bernadette Bernadette Hello! My name is Bernadette. Did you know there was a St. Bernadette and a Motown song about another Bernadette? There's even a character named Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory. I like to think that the name Bernadette is popular with really cool girls, of which I am one. Not that I'm a boastful kind of girl. I am full of personality, however, and super affectionate and outgoing. I enjoy playing with string and imaginary mice that might be lurking underneath the newspaper. I LOVE having my chin and ears scratched and rubbing against legs (both table and human) and giving head butts. I like to roll around on my back, show off my pretty tummy, and pose with my paws over my face (yes, it's adorable). I'd probably do just fine with dogs and other cats but not with children. I am a bit slow to warm up to new folks, but if you give me some time and patience so I can get to know you, I'll enjoy sitting on your lap. I'm a young girl at three years of age.

Charlie

Charlie Charlie Hi there, I'm Charlie! I'm about two years old, which means I'm still a cheeky young chappie, so naturally my favorite thing to do is play, play, play! Toys, paper bags -- if I can, I'll play with it or in it. My favorite toy is the pink fluffy thing on a stick, which I’ll pounce on and then carry around the room in my mouth! I love pouncing on my sister, although she's not so crazy about that game. It's not all fun and games with me, though; I like to snuggle, too, as long as I can get to know you first. I get along well with other kitties, but I'm a bit shy on my own so I'd like to be adopted with my sister Claudia or with another kitty friend. I have tested positive for FIV, but that's really no big deal as long as we all get along. The virus can only be transmitted by a deep bite, and FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives. You can see my well-rounded purrsonality in my video: http://youtu.be/DK-XF3p3bZA.

Vivian

Vivian Hello! My name is Vivian. There was a famous actress named Vivien Leigh who in one of her roles once said, "I have always depended on the kindness of strangers." Well, that's me - and luckily some very kind strangers are helping me to find a home and to show my appreciation I am being super kind and affectionate back. I'm a petite fluffy female with gorgeous grey fur who just lives for affection. I love sitting on laps and petting and really just being around my people. I'm not particularly shy and warm up quickly as I learn you are nice but sometimes can get a little nervous and will just retreat to my safe spot for a bit. Then I'm back out for some more people time and affection and perhaps a little play time. I enjoy chatting in my adorable croaky/raspy little voice and will rub up against you to let you know I'm there and ready for lap time when you are. I would do best in a patient, quiet household with no kids (unless they're older and gentle) or dogs. I'm fine with other friendly kitties. I am eight years old and had some dental issues so my teeth have been removed but I'm quite fine without them. I have been spayed, microchipped, tested negative and am up to date on all my shots.
